Acne, sometimes known as Zits, is a menace to people who suffer from this condition; fortunately treatments are improving all the time. A great deal of money is being spent researching the condition; as a result there are a variety of new products available to help prevent and treat skin conditions. The acne skin care products available fall into these:
Some of these products are designed to act like an acne skin care product and act against the causes of this complaint. They work by limiting the production of sebum/oil and prevent clogging of skin pores. These products prevent the oil from getting trapped in pores and can hamper the growth of bacteria, this can lead to the bad skin condition. This type of skin care treatment also includes those which exfoliate such as skin peels. These can be bought over the counter or on the internet. Dead skin cells and other atmospheric pollutants are removed cleaning the pores which reduce the chance of any bacterial growth. Many different, specially formulated acne skin care products designed to reduce the problems have now been made available without prescription. These include products like vanishing creams which extract the excess oil from the skin. Most of these are based on benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, both of which are the enemies of bacteria (and hence acne). Generally it is best to start using this type of product with only a small amount of benzoyl peroxide; in fact no more than 5.5 percent is recommended just to see how the skin reacts. There are alternatives to this including products which contain alpha hydroxy acid. As with any type of zit creams, you may need to try a few acne skin care products until you find one that will suit your skin. If this is proving difficult, your dermatologist should be able to help. Products that your dermatologist or doctor will recommend will only be available on prescription, they may include a course of antibiotics or topical ointments. Your dermatologist may suggest a minor surgical procedure to remove the contents of pustules. Never try to squeeze your zits as it can lead to permanent damage of your skin. An alternative that has been shown to work well is hormone therapy. Studies have shown that hormones can cause acne and skin care treatments that are hormone based have proved to be effective in many cases. With all the treatments available, tackling acne is not that difficult as there are many new products available to help. |
